Since it seems like there are a bunch of people just starting or who
are fairly new to the shredheads, I'd like to welcome them with open
arms – but my arms are too tired! Ugh, what a dud! Say goodnight, Gracie.
Kristen emailed me the other day and said "I did make it into my Gap 10 Long jeans (yippee). They were a little tight but the muffin top wasn't bad at all. What's annoying is that the 12s are TOO BIG. They are fine the minute they come out of the dryer and then within 30 minutes they are falling off." She also reports that she fits perfectly into Gap 10L khakis, so she's made her goal of fitting into 10s by April! Hooray for Kristen! (but Go Team Jillian!)
I'm not sure what Kristen's eventual goal is, but mine is to look good in my old "skinny clothes". Getting healthy is great, but that's more important to me right now. After working out for a month, I got to feeling a bit too small for my britches and went "shopping" in my closet. I was thrilled to fit in some pants I used to love, so I asked Sharon what she thought, expecting a similarly enthusiastic response.
"They fit fine. But if you had another pair of pants that were clean I'd wear them instead."
Ouch! Apparently I'm too old to wear pants with cargo pockets.
Because of some recent discussions I was also going to discuss eating and menus, but it seems that once again I've been beaten to the punch! Oh well…I posted a day of mine here for a fellow shredhead if you're curious. Using other people's menus is a good starting place…but make sure you think about what satisfies you. If you follow someone else's plan and end up feeling deprived you'll eventually quit – trust me. Just keep everything in moderation (which is tough if I'm around yummy stuff) because, as Jillian points out, to lose weight you need to eat less than you burn (just don't undereat!). It's shocking, I know. But it's also sometimes good to be reminded (and that's why I need Weight Watchers).
As for my workouts, I'm switching back to the 30 Day Shred most mornings for the time being. An hour is too long for me on most days, although I'm going to try to do a longer video 2-3 mornings a week. On Shred days when I'm extra motivated (or feeling fat) I'll also do one of the longer ones in the afternoon. I've got to keep it reasonable, though.
Okay…that's it for today! See you guys on Friday…

A Milestone I Never Thought About
I gargled my heart for 10 days. What's next?

I COMPLETELY understand how Kristen feels about the pants situation. I am in the same range – 12/13 are falling off me and only kept up by my child-bearing hips and a stellar belt, but 10/11 don’t quite fit yet. I’m doing a lot more laundry because I need my old jeans to fit me for another week or two. I used to wear jeans, like, 6 days in a row if I could get away with it. Not anymore.

Before I started South Beach 2 years ago, I was in a 14. I dropped down to a size 4 by last May, and was there until about 6 months ago..when I started to slip into a 6. My 6 fit me everywhere but my stomach right now (yippee! Thanks Jillian) but the 4′s still aren’t there yet (boo!). I’ll deal with my 6′s and a belt..although I still feel like I shouldn’t be in six’s at 160lbs!
