Perfection or Persistence?

The program doesn't require perfection.  It requires persistence.

I love that quote.  I sent it to my Weight Watchers group this week, and it really resonates with me.  I'm almost through the 30 days of our beloved Jillian's 30 Day Shred, and lord knows that my workouts aren't perfect.  Between terrible knees, terrible shoes, and tiny, um, muscles, I've done my share of modifications to the torture exercises.  Perfection?  I wish.

But I've been persistent.

I've read that it takes 21 days to create a habit.  After 28+ days, I'm still not entirely sure I'd call this a habit, but I can tell one is beginning to form.  And that's where I get to thank all of you guys!  Seriously, without the shredheads, I know I wouldn't have even started, much less stuck it out for so long.  But I know my habit isn't permanent yet – that's why I was relieved when the new challenge was announced.

As we kick off the second month of Kristen's Shredheads (yay Kristen, but Go Team Jillian!), I'm seeing a lot of new people joining us.  Welcome, sisters (and brothers)!  If there's one thing I can recommend, it's that you USE THE SHREDHEADS!  Use your team.  Post comments.  Link to your blogs.  Use twitter.  Tell us your goals and your challenges.  Do whatever it takes to get you going and KEEP going!  It inspires the rest of us to keep going too.

So here's the question for the workout veterans…what are your secrets to longevity?  Hey, hey, we're talking working out here, you pervs!  What keeps you doing this?  What's going to keep you doing this after you get to your finish line?
