30 Day Shred – So we meet again
Since I'm on my second off-run day, I decided to hit the 30 Day Shred again. It was that or take three cold-ridden kids to the neighborhood gym (never a good way to find favor with the neighbors), or attempt an outdoor walk with three kids (two in a stroller, one on my back) in the rain.
And so, Level 1 of the 30 day shred won.
I haven't don't the Shred since the end of March, and I am proud to say that I made it through the whole thing following Natalie. No adaptations. No stopping. Just a plain old good workout. (Yes, even real push ups).
As far as as I can remember, if I've ever needed to lose a few pounds, I've done it the unhealthy way – not eating. And that leads to weight loss but also muscle loss as well.
However, as I realized doing the Level 1, 30 Day Shred, I'm thinner AND stronger than I was almost 2.5 months ago. And while I have no trouble eating these days (hello breastfeeding), I will say that it's hard for me to not get completely obsessed, especially since I'm training for the 5k and do need to rest.
I'm in maintenance mode until I wean my daughter right now, and so it's important for me to focus on my goals, eat healthy, and not feel guilty if I didn't work out, or had one too many cookies.
It is hard, however, to maintain a rigid workout program for a long period of time. I can't tell you how much I'm LOVING the days off after working out for 60 days straight. So, that's why the 5k training is working for me; it's still a program to follow, but with a different approach.
Could a half-marathon or marathon be in my future? Who knows! But I'm keeping my options open.

A half-marathon or marathon? Are you nuts?
5k – You can totally do that. The first 5k I ran I was completely scared, but it flew by. Find a cause-based fun run – like Race for the Cure or something, and it helps. You’re running for something bigger than you, figuratively speaking, of course.
I have been contemplating a half maratjon for a while. It is on m life time “To Do” list. Maybe you could finally convince me
