Find Your Motivation
Motivation is key to any fitness plan. Obviously you’re motivated, or were at one time, because you’re here. But how long has it been since you’ve thought about what your reason is for doing any of this? Was your goal to look good in a swimsuit at the pool in June?
June was a while ago.
If you haven’t updated your target in a while, you may find yourself losing steam. While I was coming up with my 30 Day Workout Plan*, I realized that I didn’t have a goal. And that was a problem.
You can pick whatever you want as your motivation. It can be something serious, like wanting to get off of medication. It can be something for vanity, like looking good in a swimsuit. It can be reaching a certain number on the scale (try not to mix this one with a time limit, though). It can even be something like proving to yourself that you can stick with your plan. Whatever it is, it needs to be personal. Sure, we’re here to help…trust me, if it weren’t for all of you guys my motivation wouldn’t be anywhere near what it is…but if your heart isn’t in it, you won’t be successful.
So when you come up with your plan, try to update your reason for doing it too. You’ll find that it’s easier to stick to it, and that you’ll be a lot happier when you’re working toward something.
*Hopefully by now you’ve got your 30 Day Workout Plan written out. (channeling my inner Jillian) IT’S NOT GOING TO MAKE ITSELF, PEOPLE!
My current goal is to stick with my workouts for the next 30 days, stick to eating right, and (hopefully) lose about 10 pounds in the process (I’m up a bit in the last month, and I know I said don’t mix it with a time limit, LOL). And when I succeed at doing that, I have a reward picked out for myself. And no, it has nothing to do with food. :)

Each and every person has something or someone that motivates them. Some people find their motivation in wanting to make the most of the gifts they feel they were endowed with by their creator. Other people find it in the love of their children. For some it is their own sense of contentment and satisfaction. Some people are motivated by money or power and others by feelings of love and commitment. Every person is unique in their talents and abilities, as well as their motivation to use their gifts successfully.
2 triathlons (a sprint this weekend and olympic in early Oct) are all the motivation I need for workouts, however, I have major issue with the eating motivation… being within 10 lbs of my goal makes it hard! Oh well, someday!
