October SHRED #15: Don’t Open The Candy!
Have you guys seen those “Boo Bags” this year? I’d never heard of them until I got one on our doorstep…apparently it’s a variant of the classic chain letter, where in return for the bag full of candy you got, you have one day to return the favor to two of your neighbors. I appreciate the sentiment, but yech.
And for those of you who are curious, yes, I ate some of the candy, which is why Shred #1 (Don’t Buy Candy Until Just Before Halloween) is so important!
Anyway, maybe you have a boo bag in the house, or maybe you’ve decided to stock up and you now have a Costco-sized pile of candy in your house. It’s interesting how you can actually smell the sugar through all the wrappers, isn’t it?
DON’T OPEN THE CANDY YET
I was fine with the boo bag in the house until I opened it. It’s strange how once you open the bag, candy unwraps itself and puts itself in your mouth. Again and again.
Stupid candy.
So if you’ve got the candy in the house already, don’t open it. Hide it. Get your spouse to hide it. Get the kids to HA HA WHO AM I KIDDING WITH THAT? But get someone trustworthy to hide it for you. Because if it’s there, it’s a temptation. And once you start, it’s hard to stop.
