I realize that there are two camps when it comes to purchasing workout clothes. And up until I bought my first pair of Lucy pants last year, I was in the camp that refused to spend any money on workout clothing. Sure, I spent a pretty penny on my running shoes, but I’d just as soon grab a sports bra and pair of yoga pants at my local Target and call it a day.
But last year, I stumbled upon a sale at Lucy.com and decided to splurge on a pair of capri pants and let’s just say they totally changed my mind.
I realize that not everyone has $50 (and more) to drop on a pair of pants, however, if you workout often and you’re buying a bunch of cheap stuff, then it’s definitely something to consider. The pants I bought over a year ago are in almost perfect condition, and I’ve worn them a lot (and worked out in them a lot). I can’t say the same about my cheapy pants, which definitely served their purpose but did not fit, wear, or wash as well.
Aside from the workmanship and styles, which are really quite simple (nothing crazy or even hugely stylish actually), as well as the material (it just feels like better quality fabric to me), the fit is almost miraculous. The first time I fit the capris on, I felt fabulous.
And I’m happy to report that after buying a couple of pairs of pants during their Black Friday sale, I feel the same way. They do run slightly big, so even though I’m still about 20lbs over my regular pre-baby weight and wear a large, I ordered a medium. They fit a bit snugly around my waist, but are fine in the legs. So, if you happen to be on the lower end of a size (like a smaller Large for example), I’d order down. The rise on the pants are perfect. Both pants that I ordered hit me right below the belly button, which I personally prefer.
Also, as a tall girl, I am very happy to report that not only do they offer talls, but they’re actually long enough. I’m 5’11″ and have a 35 inch inseam, and these hit the floor when I’m in bare feet.
I can’t say that I’ll be buying these pants at full price, but it’s worth checking their sale section, which is how I scored my first pair. But if you’re looking for something to get for yourself this holiday, definitely consider Lucy pants.

As a fellow tall girl (I’m 5’9″) I have to say THANKS for this review!! I’ve always wanted to try out some of their pants but wasn’t sure if their tall was actually made for…you know..tall people!

This is so true! I bought an expensive pair of running pants in 2004 and I still wear them! They still look and feel good too. I hated spending the $90 on them at the time but it was so worth it and they have lasted way longer than all my cheapo pants put together.
