Holy mother of pearl, I’d forgotten how difficult the first set in level 1 is for me. My shoulders and chest are so weak! I’m happy that I’m doing Shred again, but a little bummed that I’ve lost so much strength. It’s not like I didn’t know I’d lost it, more like it was easier to ignore it. :)
Anyway, despite having to back off on the weights I used to use, and not being able to do the pushups like I used to(no shame in following Anita for some or all!), it feels good to be working on overall conditioning again. What’s keeping me going is knowing that by the end of the 30 days I’ll be able to do a LOT more than I can right now, and I’ll see the results.
I’ve also been eating right for a few days and feel good (mentally and physically) about that too.
Weight: 197
Measurements: Forgot to do them, oops!
If you’re blogging about your 30 days, make sure you leave a comment or tweet it to us so we can give you some linky-love! :)

I was scrolling through Facebook and thought-what’s this, a Shredheads post?! I have a race on Wednesday and then I think I’m going to focus on Insanity–but looking forward to reading
Hooray for getting back in the saddle! I’ll do it too — once I’m cleared post-back-surgery (ugh.) which should be around Jan 2013.
Did Level 1 tonight…not until 9:30 PM, but I did it. Had a crappy day at work, so the boxing felt really therapeutic. Dreading how sore I will be 2 days from now!
Wow, so glad to hear I am not the only one who finds the first strength set totally hard. When she says not to let your arms drop during the shoulder presses it is like she is staring into my soul. Not that I am exactly “letting” them drop, they are doing that all by themselves! No way to go but up
I just started yesterday! Today was day 2 and my whole entire body feels like it’s been ..well shredded. I’m really really really out of shape..actually as I was trying hard not to gag as I did a push up I realize I was never actually in shape. In all of my 31 years I’ve never done a full push up. I hope by then end I can do a few!
My starting weight is 149lbs (at 5’0)
Oh yeah! I’m glad I stumbled onto your blog! It’s nice to “meet” you.
You’ll definitely see a difference by the end…and it’s nice to meet you too!
Don’t worry, the super-soreness will go away fairly quickly. As it does, then you’ll notice the changes starting to happen.
I started again today. I was almost at the end of level 1 way back in April when my knees started to hurt. So I took a break, got better shoes and then just never got back to it. Wow, I cannot believe how out of shape I got in just 2 months. Could not finish level 1-it was so friggin’ hard! Will try again tomorrow with smaller weights-I used 5 lbs today.
Welcome back!
How was day 2?
I\’ve decided to do a couple of days without the weights cuz I just couldn\’t finish the workout with \’em. I don\’t want to get discouraged and stop…My day 1 is going to be July 25. Wish me luck!
Thanks for all the encouragement. I love this site.
