My first double-workout day in a loooooong time. 18.1 fairly slow biking miles (I had to carry my bike over some fallen trees, and crawl under some others on the trail), then Shred Level 1. How was it?
Surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad! I mean it was bad, in that just like yesterday I’m totally weak. Picture Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, when they’re playing poker with Mr. The Kid and get caught cheating. ”Look, we’re totally weak. We can’t possibly fight you.” The pushups and shoulder presses…boy I can’t wait to feel stronger on those.
But it didn’t kill me, so I guess I’m getting stronger.
Where things got a little sketchy were the eating. I did well until the afternoon, then I started snacking and it kind of continued until bedtime. It wasn’t a full-blown binge, but it was more out of control than I wanted. I’m not sure if I’m actually hungry for something after doing so much activity, or if I’m just justifying it to myself at the time. Either way, I need to watch it and possibly eat more earlier in the day to see if that helps. I also might try more sodium afterwards, since I was pushing on the salty stuff.
Onward to tomorrow!

Well, I started my Shred on July 1st, took yesterday off because I was really too sore, but got a sun burn on the beach
it’s excruciating to wear anything but a light T-shirt (so a bra of any kind is out of the question, how lovely). Will have to continue on when this burn has gotten a bit better.
Last thing I wanted to do tonight was shred at 9:30 PM but I did it! Nighttime work outs aren’t ideal, but better than skipping a day, and a surprisingly good way to destress after a bad day. My 3-year-old got my weights out for me and told me to “have a good exercise show, but don’t be too loud and wake me up.” So I guess I have my own cheering section!
I was wondering if it was safe to do more than just the shred at first. I may try to hop on the elliptical later and get some in.
If you feel like your body can handle it, I would…but if you’re just starting out, you might want to wait until you’re a few days in to see how sore you get.
It’s really weird but it’s like my body is craving more movement, even when it’s sore. Example, a few minutes ago I was doing dishes and caught myself marching in place a little. I’m just gonna roll with it. lol
My first shred. At age 53, I’m pleased to have made 2 days in a row. Those arm exercises are killer – could hardly shampoo my hair! But I’m feeling great.
I finished day 2 yesterday and today I will complete day 3, after day 1 I could barley walk and my arms were killing, even sleeping was painful. But day 2 I sucked it up and completed it, I was even more sore afterwards and skipped the elliptical on day 2, it is a great workout and I will complete the 30 days without breaks I am detemend to see the ultimate result! Has anyone been in this much pain and completed it?
